Friday 19 October 2018 JAMAICA (TZAMAΪΚΑ) with English Subtitles. Not to be missed!  This is a brilliant 2017 comedy by Andreas Morfonios with the most unlikely subject for a film that will make you laugh – an Athenian TV celebrity coping with terminal cancer.  Fans of Στην υγειά σας ρε παιδιά may expect Spyros Papadopoulos to play the celebrity, but he plays the role of the taxi-driver brother.

Friday 2 November 2018 1968 with English Subtitles +the screening of trailers for three serious Greek movies so that the audience can vote for the one they want to see in the second half-session. This is the new film by that master of penetrating nostalgia Tasos Boulmetis, the director of the smash-hit Πολιτική Κουζίνα (A Touch of Spice).  This time Boulmetis focuses on the year 1968 but manages to pack half a century of Greek life into his telling the story of one basketball match.  1968 was the year when AEK become the first Greek team to win the European Cup. They beat Slava Prague in the ancient Panathinaiko Stadium which was refurbished for Coubertin’s Olympics of 1896.

Friday 16 November 2018 MY DAUGHTER THE SOCIALIST (Η ΚΟΡΗ ΜΟΥ Η ΣΟΣIΑΛΙΣΤΡΙΑ) with English Subtitles +the screening of trailers for three Greek comedy movies so that the audience can vote for the one they want to see in the second half-session. A colour comedy film of 1966 by Alex Sakellarios which stars Aliki Vougouklaki, Dimitris Papamichail, and Lambros Konstantaris the former reserve goalkeeper of AEK whobecame a matinee idol of the Greek cinema.  Music is by George Zambettas.

Friday 30 November 2018 MARIA BY CALLAS with Greek Subtitles (the languages of the film are English, French and Italian)

A  biographical documentary of the great celebrity Greek Opera singer told in her own words and with archive footage of the many performances she gave and the personalities in her life.   This 2017 film is French and its director Tom Volf is German, but we need no excuse for showing it when its New York born subject was a Greek and a half!
